~~When I say shoes are very gently used I mean it! I bought them back in the early 90s and they're so vintage I don't even know the model name and the company doesn't make this style anymore!~~

Now why do I say they're gently used? Because I wear my brown Arizona and my black London Birks almost daily. I thought Navy Blue would be cool and got them. Wore them one day -- and one day only -- and then never wore them again because they really didn't go with my color palette. The leather is kinda like a blue suede nap and they are so buttery!

Anyway, these sat in my closet for years as I resoled my Arizonas and Londons throughout the years. Yes Birks are on awesome investment as long as you take care othem properly because they'll last for years. This pair is sooo sad that they never got as much use as my other Birks. So you should get them and make them happy!

OMG...back in the day big sister had a full on wedding dress that was almost exactly like the skirt I'm offering here. The only difference was the dress -- well it was a dress and this -- this is a skirt! It's from the 1970's and designed Victorian style from Jessica's Gunnies (of Jessica McClintock), San Francisco. This is sized 13.

This is a very gorgeous off-white 100% muslin cotton embellished with ribbon and lace. Designed with yards and yards of gorgeous ruffles. All those ruffles make the item a wee bit heavy so my shipping costs reflects the weight of this garment.

This item is new and never been worn. It's in excellent shape as the price tag and the hang tag have not yet even been removed. Flash to the past from the seventies or another steampunk dimension!

"Hawaiian Style" A Free Blogger Theme from Glamour Bomb

Now I did it! I done designed my own blogger theme with a free template I got at OurBlogTemplate and a color palette from ColourLovers.

I call this template series "Hawaiian Style" and you can get the XML code and see a live demo by clicking here or on the image above.

The whole story about the theme is in the latest non-latin blog post on the live demo. I just wanted to add in this blog post that I've been feverishly working behind the scenes on my own blog re-design.

It's been challenging because I'm not a natural born geek (I don't have training in coding or web design) and I'm not a graphic artist either. If I were gainfully employed I would hire my old boyfriend at Kapow and pay him tens of thousands of dollars to make me a custom website. But the recession is hitting me hard and that's why I'm learning all I can to come up with my own.

It's a lot of work as many of you know but the experience has been priceless. Along with all the skills I'm learning I've met some incredibly talented artists and designers like Itkupilli, Yummy Lolly, Nymphont, Gisele Jaquenod (and Birdie!), Kevin and Amanda, Coastal Sisters, Susie Jefferson, Two Dresses Studio and many, many more.

So I came up with Hawaiian Style because it's a theme I haven't seen yet. Now granted, I've been spending a lot of time reading and following scrapper bloggers, mommy bloggers, mixed media bloggers and other web designers. I'm sure there are some lovely Hawaiian and tiki themed blog templates are out there. I just haven't seen them in my little neighborhood of the blogosphere so I thought I'd give it a try.

The only part I'm a little worried about is offering support if the user has trouble with it. I'm not really skilled to enough to be giving tech support but I'll certainly do my best.

"Mele Kalikimaka" - A Free Blogger Theme From GlamourBomb

As many of you who have been with me since these past few months, I've been learning how to customize and design my blog. On Halloween I passed forward a Hawaiiana blogger theme I worked on that was based on a template designed by OurBlogTemplates.

I got so much aloha it was wonderful! So now, just in time for the holidays, I've reconfigured the same template with a Christmas/Hawaiiana theme. It's called (what else?) "Mele Kalikimaka"! You can see a live demo by clicking on the image above.

All the information on how to download it and install it are available on the live demo. While it's completely free, there are some strings attached. The Terms of Use are clearly stipulated within the code.

As I've mentioned, for the past few months I've been teaching myself how to customize my own Blogspot blog and I started playing around with this template by OurBlogTemplates. I came up with the theme after a girlfriend of mine in Hawaii said she hadn't seen to many blogs in this style. So I made it with her in mind.

This may sound funny, but designing a theme is a lot like figuring out what to wear. I liken it to dressing up a doll! :)

If you don't like my color scheme or background tile feel free to change it. The developer made the template amazingly flexible so you can change the fonts and colors right within the dashboard without having to go into the code.

You'll have to fiddle with the widgets as I've set placeholders within the template using links to my site and others. It's really easy to do and you don't need to know any HTML.

Since I'm not skilled in web design or coding I am unable to offer support if you have any issues from using this template. I advise you to do-it-yourself with OurBlogDesign's tutorial links I've provided within the live demo.

Oh you hipster you! These gorgeous glasses are totally retro and hot in a sexy librarian kinda way. They come filled with prescription sunglass lenses.

These frames are truly vintage with some very mild scratches on the arms as indicated in photo of left templar. But even though they're old school they are in excellent condition. I hope I look this good when I'm 50 years old!

Notes: This book is in wonderful condition considering its age. Pages are yellowed but clean and crisp with no marks, tears, dog ears or folds. Some slight water damage on pages 2-4 and 213-236 (this is the plumbing section so perhaps previous owner was fixing a project? :) That said, I think you will be very pleased with the excellent condition this book is in.

{SOLD OUT} Vintage Totally 80s Dress by Diane von Furstenberg

This is a totally rad dress from the 80s that I took and snipped off the collar to make it a little bit more sexy. I mean, it was originally a crew collar and I wanted people to see my bosom! Can you blame me? I mean really: can you?

I took my cue from the famous "flash dance" sweat shirt look and I think it totally helped. Pair this baby with some black leggings and you are back to the future circa 1986. All you need is some big hair! (See final photo: that's me with some red wool dreads that I make to order). Or pretend you're Ally Sheedy in the "Breakfast Club" and put a little black beret on it. That's it! You're hot! Game over!

OK, so Diane von Fürstenberg, who is she? Well, she's a high end fashion designer best known for introducing the knitted jersey "wrap dress" in 1973. And then in the 80s she had this perfume that I really liked called "Tatiana". Remember that? No? OK...what year where you born?

Anyway, I think this dress was part of her prêt-à-porter line. You know? Like there's Calvin Klein (ex-spen-seeev) and CK (aff-ord-a-ble). That's the diff!

So what do you wanna know about the dress? Convo me.

FABRIC/COLORS: Stripe part: 40% acrylic, 40% polyester, 20% cotton. Polka dot peplum: 100% cotton. Red sash: 100% Acrylic.
CONDITION: Fair
ADDITIONAL NOTES: I've taken the collar and cut a plunging v-neck to it to show off some cleavage. It totally works! And even though it says size is 14, I'm a 7/8 top and it was very flattering on me.

{SOLD OUT} Vintage 50's Chickens and Roosters Skirt

OK...there's good and there's bad with this pretty little thing that at closer look appears to be some sort of Home Ec project from "Leave It To Beaver". I mean, the handiwork seems that of a sophomore that was learning how to sew. And while it's clumsy, it's still awful sweet. I just want to be straight with you that's all.

So...what else? Where do I begin to tell you my crafty crush on this little skirt?

First of all, it's super adorable and totally caught my eye with it's not-so-spring chickens vintage stylings from the fifties. And although it's so obviously awesome, it's just not so...well...perfect, OK? But (and this is a big fat but): if you're willing to do some handiwork, this is a darling addition to any retro wardrobe. If not, the fabric itself is something you could make cool crafty stuff with.

Here's the pros:

~~- 24" waist~~
~~- 24" length~~
~~- Retro style roosters and chickens design in the cotton fabric. Cuk-cuk-cuk-cute!~~

~~Here's the cons:~~

~~- No zipper (but honestly, that's fine with me IMHO).~~
~~- No hem. Are you good with a whip stitch? I hope so because you're going to want to finish the hem. (See referencing photo).~~
~~- A hole near the button fastening. (See referencing photo).~~

So that's it. Weigh the pros with the cons but it totally adds up to something you could totally work with whether you fix it or cannibalize it for your fashionista purposes. June Cleaver would be so proud!
